Driver License: Intelligent Driving Safety Training – Drivers Education
The NHTSA states that distracted driving is the number one cause of accidents and a “deadly epidemic.”
Over a million people died in auto accidents last year and another two million were seriously injured!
There are six billion mobile phone users and a billion vehicles interacting on the roads daily.
Modern vehicles are loaded with new technical devices (some even on the dashboard) and carry-ons that invite driver distraction.
Distraction Causes: Not Concentrating on the Road while Driving, Texting and Driving, Dialing Numbers/Answering Phones while Driving, GPS Navigation, Looking at Devices while Driving, Eating and Drinking While Driving, Talking to Passengers that Want Eye Contact while Driving, Passenger and Children Disturbances while Driving, Distracting Animals in Vehicle While Driving.
Every day, a great multitude of drivers are driving under the influence (DUI) of varying substances that may or may not impair driving.
The many new driving concentration challenges dictate the need to update twentieth-century driver licensing, education, and training. Valuable new safety ideas such as the ASF Copilot Driver License IP that provides road concentration training and insights for both drivers and passengers, can help reduce accidents, while at the same time offer additional DMV licensing revenues. DMV, educators, and those with consumer protection concerns are now presented with an opportunity to modernize driving licensing and education, standards and practices, that will make the roads safer
The Automobile Safety Foundation, a nonprofit organization (founded 1988) is introducing novel safety ideas and programs based on the science of road concentration; the required cognitive discipline to sustain road concentration while remaining undistracted. It is hugely challenging for humans to maintain road concentration over long periods of driving, and even the awareness of this fact is helpful for driving safety. ASF believes the current driving mindset requires re-programming from old-school driving practices that ignore road concentration training, while at the same time, fail to disclose the huge array of driving distractions and bad driving habits (this includes the influence of media and Hollywood movies depicting cars that drive themselves and frivolous driving behaviours) to be introduced to intelligent driving, a new driving psychology, that introduces new driving safety practices, that are interesting, easy to learn, and not at all unpleasant.
Intelligent driving trains with the use of simple but efficient word tools such as, Eyes on the Road/Hands on the Wheel, Practice Road Concentration, Avoid Driver Distraction, Passenger Alert, and the ASF Copilot License (CL) that offers a safe driving and road concentration training for both drivers and passengers. ASF submits CL training as a new international industry standard, that should be part of the required DMV protocol necessary to obtain a driver license. The new program should include initiating Copilot License education and training prior to obtaining a driver permit, while also training passengers how to copilot to help drive safely. DMV issuing mobile phone driver licenses could also multitask the CL for an official ID card, or offer it for a small charge to the safety-minded that want to make a DMV road concentration safe driving pledge.
Obtaining a CL should be a requirement for a moving violation ticket or accident, that would include purchasing of the CL for an additional ticket charge (prioritized over other non-safety tariffs etc.) as well as the intelligent driving course, CL school online to learn about road concentration, and the lesson of driving cooperation, as on the road we all copilot, and unsafe driving endangers others.
ASF believes that all U.S. state DMV, international licensing agencies, Ministries of Transportation, and licensing bureaus, offer new intelligent driving education that includes the Copilot Driver License, as part of their Driver License programs.
Mobile driving licenses, mDL, soon to be introduced by DMV nationally, can offer a user-friendly platform for the purchase of the Copilot License.
Distracted driving is a “deadly epidemic” that necessitates new driving education and licensing practices!
The advantages of the Copilot License for mDL are:
* CL provides increased road concentration training, and new techniques, that benefit driving safety.
Here are some of the nation’s DMV that publish ASF safety materials.
ASF safety information is published in many national DMV Driver Handbooks see: https://carsafe.org/letters
Copyright use for the Copilot Driver License, ASF jingle, videos, and driving images (see below) is available.
Last year there were over a million auto accident fatalities, and many more serious injuries! This international safety crisis requires new approaches and immediate actions. ASF believes that all DMV, international licensing bureaus, and educators, incorporate the CL program as part of driver training and licensing protocol.
ASF Copilot License can be sent and viewed on computers, mobile phones, apps, or email. ASF is offering CL copyright use for a 15 percent fee
per licensing sale, or a one-time negotiable donation.
